WHAT
SIZE CEILING FAN SHOULD I CHOOSE FOR MY ROOM ? 76cm/30"
blade size for rooms upto 10sq mtrs 105cm/42" blade size
for rooms upto 15 sq mtrs 132cm/52" blade size for rooms
upto 25 sq mtrs
HOW
DO I CHOOSE THE CORRECT DROP ROD LENGTH ? For optimum air
circulation it is most effective to have the blades 2.4m-2.7m
above the floor, most fans are supplied with a 4"/100mm drop
rod (except the contempra trio). So if your new fan is being
installed into a conservatory with an apex roof you shall require
a longer drop rod. The longer rods are available in 3 different
sizes 12"/18"/24" and there are 10 different
finishes, most people choose the drop rod to match the fan finish,
but the mix and match approach can be effective too. All longer
rods are supplied with a longer wiring lead as standard. See drop
section, to order your rod.
HOW
MUCH WILL MY NEW FAN COST, AND HOW MUCH IS DELIVERY ? The price
you see on the web is the price you pay, all our products include
VAT and delivery, and we aim to deliver within 48 hours
(mon-friday) excluding bank holidays
HOW
DOES A CEILING FAN COOL OR WARM A ROOM ? Ceiling fans can make
a room feel 8 degrees cooler by creating a "wind chil"
effect - it does not actually lower the temperature of the room,
but instead makes you feel cooler by accelerating the evaporation
on your skin. Likewise running one of our fans in reverse you can
redistribute the hot air that rises to the ceiling that becomes
trapped - thus making the temperature of the room feel warmer.
WHICH
DIRECTION SHOULD MY CEILING FAN GO FOR WINTER OR SUMMER
? Clockwise for winter and counter-clockwise for summer.
HOW
CAN I EXPECT TO SAVE ON HEATING/COOLING COSTS BY USING A CEILING
FAN ? A ceiling fan can provide all year round savings. In
summer you can save upto 30% on air conditioning, making the room
feel cooler. In winter you can save upto 10% on heating costs by
reclaiming the hot air trapped near to your ceiling by running
your fan in reverse. Savings will vary based on local climate
conditions and energy rates.
WHAT
IS COVERED BY YOUR CEILING FAN WARRANTY ? Diamond and design
fan collections - 25 year motor warranty, all other parts 12
months (excludes bulbs) All other fan collections - 10 year
motor warranty, all other parts 12 months (excludes bulbs)
WHY
SHOULD I CONSIDER A REMOTE CONTROL UNIT ? Remote control units
are very useful in high installations ie conservatories, they are
also useful if you have limited access to a ceiling fan, also from
the remote you can dim your light kit.
WHAT
IF MY CEILING FAN BLADES DO NOT MOVE FREELY ? Before installing
the blades onto the motor housing, ensure you have removed any
plastic transit spacers. Failure to do so could result in a
damaged motor. The ceiling fan blades should be able to move
freely before any power up.
WHAT
IF MY REMOTE CONTROLLED CEILING FAN DOES NOT WORK AFTER I HAVE
INSTALLED IT ? If your remote controlled fan does not work,
first check to make sure the power lead is plugged into the remote
unit installed on the ceiling, then make sure the lead from the
motor via the drop rod is plugged into the other lead on the unit
(dont mix these up they are marked). Then make sure both the fan
pull chain switch and the light kit pull chain are in their
highest settings. Check the battery in the hand held transmitter.
CAN
I USE A REMOTE CONTROL UNIT AND A WALL SPEED CONTROLLER TOGETHER
? No, there are only three ways to control your fan, using the
pull chains or using a wall speed controller or using a remote
control unit, you cannot mix the last two methods together. Also
note that if you use a remote controller you cannot use a standard
light switch in conjunction with the unit.
HOW
MANY CEILING FANS WILL MY WALL CONTROLLER OPERATE ? A wall
controller can control upto 4 ceiling fans, but if your wall
controller has a light switch, we only advise 1 ceiling fan per
controller, because of the increased wattage/load on the
controller.
HOW
DO I RESET MY REMOTE CONTROL UNIT ? Turn the fan onto the
highest setting and switch the light kit on (both via the pull
chains) leave the fan runing for approx 1 minute, then turn the
power off totally to the fan and leave for approx 1 minute, then
turn the power back on to the fan and press 1 on the remote hand
unit.
WHY
IS THE REVERSE SWITCH ABOVE THE BLADES ? The reason is because
if a ceiling fan was running at the highest setting and then the
reverse switch was switched it would cause damage to the motor, so
having the switch above the blades makes sure that the blades are
static when the reverse switch is used. This is the single reason
why we dont supply a wall or remote reversing unit.
WHAT
IF MY NEW CEILING FAN MAKES NOISE WHILE RUNNING ? New fans
sometimes require a breaking in period. Try running it on high
speed continuously for 24 hours.
WHAT
IF MY CEILING FAN IS WOBBLING ? All blades are weighed and
grouped by weight. Natural woods vary in density which could cause
the fan to wobble even though all blades are weight matched. The
following procedures should elimate most of the wobble, check for
wobble after each step.
1
- Check that all blades are screwed firmly into blade holders.
2
- Check that all blade holders are tightened securely to the
motor.
3
- Make sure that the canopy and mounting bracket are tightened
securely to the ceiling joist.
4
- If blade wobble is still noticeable, try interchanging two
adjacent blades which can redistribute the weight and possibly
result in smoother operation. Please note that in our installation
aids section you can purchase a simple fan balancing kit. ref CFS2
